PETER PRESTON - Vocals, Harmonica, Didgeridoo, Trombone, Percussion, Jaw Harp

PETER PRESTON

Raised a poor Gypsy child on a sun-drenched dirt road down Palm Beach way and fed on a steady diet of reggae, roots-rock, alt-country, ska, Dixie-fried punk, and assorted esoteric influences from the wider South Florida ecosystem, the young Peter Preston surfed, sang, and sported his way through matriculation from John I. Leonard HS and went on to earn his BA in English Literature from Stetson University where he learned the fine art of blowing the harp, until fate next landed him in the vibrant music scene of Gainesville, FL where he crooned his way on to several locally renowned bands including Soma and Bum Broth until re-surfacing with the Hernando County group known as the Egnatuks before bringing an eclectic solo act to his current home base in Wauchula, FL. Along the way he earned his Masters in Mental Health Counseling from USF to better understand his self and his band-mates, and his PhD from Barry University, so folk may ask "What's up, Doc?" and mean it. He has been quoted as saying that, “Zen Fuse Box marks the culmination of something.” LIKES: Mallakhamb, Truly Scrumptious, Pantagruelion, people who care. DISLIKES: Colonialism and haters.

STEVE DAVIS - Bass, Drums, Guitar, Vocals, Percussion, Keyboards

STEVE DAVIS

Steve was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he was lucky to live within walking distance of the tree. Growing up, he was only a B-train ride away from the vibrant New York music scene, where bands such as the Ramones, Talking Heads and Blondie were honing their craft.  Sadly, being only a kid he didn’t know about that, and instead spent his youth pantomiming to Kiss records and the soundtrack from the movie “Grease.”  By the time he entered high school, Steve had moved to Florida where he began his formal musical training playing the tuba.  Seriously.  Upon realizing that being a tubist was not “rock n roll” enough to attract attention from the ladies, he began playing guitar, bass and drums, and was a member of such bands as U-turn and S.P.F.H.  Additionally, he spent his college years working as the bassist for a Broadway/Vegas revue and an Elvis impersonator, until Elvis left the building without saying where he was headed.  Steve has been the bassist for the Tomkats Jazz Orchestra (www.tomkatsjazzorchestra.com  and www.facebook.com/tomkatsjazzorchestra)  since before he was old enough to drink alcohol. Somewhere along the way he earned his J.D. degree from Stetson College of Law and spends most weekdays as an attorney, where he can argue with people and actually get paid for it. In his spare time, he keeps preparing to be Geddy Lee's understudy (Geddy does not know about this).  Oh yeah, he’s in Zen Fuse Box too, and is the owner and chief knob-turner of the fabled MPQ studio.  When asked about the musical chemistry between the members of ZFB, Steve has been quoted as saying, "Uh."

RICH MARCIL - Guitar, E-bow, Mandolin, Percussion

RICH MARCIL

Rich is an Orlando-area citizen, and has been playing guitar since the 20th Century. His main instrument is the 12-string acoustic guitar, but he also specializes in E-bow and mandolin. Rich can also rock the tambourine and egg shaker.  He does not sing – don’t make him – it is not good. He was a founding member of the Tallahassee rock band “Pirate Radio,” that was signed to a 2-song radio contract with Woodrich Recordings in the 1990s. Another of Rich’s 90’s-era bands, the alt-rock group “Burn,” performed at the New Music Seminar in New York City.  Rich released a solo CD called “From the Edge” in 2003 that receives some radio airplay and actually made a Top 10 New Age genre list in Finland in 2004 (yes, Finland). While not rockin’ with Zen Fuse Box, Rich’s “other band” is The Forefathers (www.theforefathers.com), an instrumental Ambient World Rock Fusion band that received considerable airplay on National Public Radio’s “Echoes” program. The Forefathers recently released their 3rd album, “Aurora.” ZFB member Steve Davis has been seen sitting in with The Forefathers on occasion (it’s like finding a rare bird). In 2009, Rich was selected among 10 finalists for Musician of the Year by the Songwriters Showcases of America. When not playing the axe, Rich coaches his daughter’s softball team, canoes Florida’s rivers, spends time with friends and family, chases cats, and wishes he could be Captain of the Enterprise.  And his “day job” is as a psychologist (www.orlando-psychology.com). Watch out, Rich will shrink your head.
