ZFB Back in the Studio!

This past weekend, commencing May 29, 2015, ZFB was back in the fabled MPQ Studio to work on material for our forthcoming project of cover tunes done in a quirky Zen Fuse Box style.  We call it a "ZFB Recording Weekend," but our kids have taken to calling it "Unsupervised Kids Weekend." It turns out that both names are accurate representations of the event! We're proud to report that we maintained our tradition of recording some cool music while not actually losing any children in the process.

The band convened at MPQ Studios, nestled in an undisclosed location in or around Largo, Florida, on Friday night. After the obligatory listening session of works-in-progress, accompanied by pizza and beer of various varieties (both the pizza and the beer!), we set to work on our covers project.

Throughout the weekend, overdubs were completed on some of the tunes we previously recorded, and some brand new cover tunes were conceived. We made great strides towards our recordings of the Stones' "Honky Tonk Women," Daft Punk's "Lose Yourself to Dance," and Danny and the Juniors' "At the Hop."  (yes, we think that is a weird list too!)

Originally, the cover tunes project was planned to be a 4 or 5 tune EP release, but somehow it has grown to more than twice that many songs, and despite ourselves it looks like it'll turn out to be a full CD release!  We also have several original tunes in various stages of production, so we are on our way towards also completing our 3rd CD of original material as well!
