The band got together this weekend at our favorite recording spot, the highly exclusive MPQ Studio tucked away in Largo, Florida. As usual, we were accompanied 80% of the Daughters of Zen (DOZ), who join us in the studio and generally keep us from being too crazy.
Rich had this idea that each of us would come into the weekend with a song idea, and that by the end of the weekend we'd have 3 complete tunes recorded. Other than some possible overdubs, and the process of editing and mixing, we succeeded!
Steve's idea was first up, and it's a rocker that over the course of recording evolved into what will eventually be called Blast Off! We intend to release that one as a single pretty soon, with a kooky idea for cover art.
Rich's idea was presented on day two, and is called Ghost Dance. It may be the silliest of the three songs and will be a great release for Halloween 2025!
Day three brought us Pete's song, entitled Red Lights, which evokes a Springsteen vibe, and will also be a single somewhere down the line.
Somehow in the middle of all this, we engineered and recorded a song entitled subzero, performed by two of the DOZ, Aly and Anna, and it's way more serious than our stuff. We hope they release it one day! We also got in a round of mini-golf, went out to several restaurants, and drank a beer or twenty!
