The Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando was 9 years ago today.  In response to that tragedy, we released a song entitled Pulse (the City Beautiful), which was released as a single, and then appeared on our subsequent Turnpike to Jupiter album.

Google's AI responds to the search this way - and it's all correct with the exception of identifying us as an electronic music band - although this track does meet those criteria:

"Pulse (The City Beautiful)" can refer to two things: a song by Zen Fuse Box and a…

Goo Goo Muck appears on our album, “Audio Dropouts Vol 1.”  It was a late add to the recording sessions, but is a quirky favorite on the album.  The guys' thoughts on it are below:

Pete: “Ronnie Cook and the Gaylads (1962) did the original of this one and then The Cramps (1981) reprised it. Their version is what you hear on the show, Wednesday. It has that garage band feel that just lent itself to messing with, and of course we had a blast adding all sorts of weird little background noises and effects. The…

Our latest single, “The Text” has dropped! It was recorded live at the Virginia Highlands Porchfest, in Atlanta, GA on May 17, 2025, and features Peter Preston on vocals and harmonica; Rich Marcil on guitar; Steve Davis on bass; and Dave Oltman on drums.

Is it lo-fi? Yes!  Is it raw? Sure is! Is it a fun souvenir of a great day? Absolutely! We hope you enjoy the glimpse into our live set. “The Text” can be found wherever you stream your music.  We've provided some links to the most common sources down…

The boys in Zen Fuse Box had a great time participating in the Virginia Highland District Porchfest on May 17, 2025!  We had the coveted 5pm slot at a prime location where we were able to spread the message of ZFB!  Below are recaps from the guys. To the extent that they may be inconsistent, blame beer!

The band getting hyped up for the show!

Here's the VaHi Porchest promo poster:

Pete: “For the past two years I have visited my friends, Farris and Kristie Briggs in Atlanta for the Virginia Highlands (VaHi)…

Mark your calendars!  On May 17, 2025 Zen Fuse Box will be performing at the 5th Annual Virginia Highland District Porchfest.  Start making your way to Atlanta, friends!

We are excited to be performing at the 5th Annual Virginia Highland District Porchfest on Saturday, May 17, 2025! If you're in the Atlanta area, please join us - a splendid time is guaranteed for all!

For those of you who avidly follow our every move, you might recall that we mentioned recording a new tune called Blast Off over our most recent recording weekend. At that time we were joined on backing vocals by 80% of the Daughters of Zen.

This weekend, the remaining 20% (Steve's daughter, Rebecca) was in town and she was dragged into the studio to yell “Blast Off!” a bunch of times!  With that, the recording of the song is complete, and now we gotta fix and mix!

We are excited to announce the release of our latest album, Audio Dropouts Vol. 2!!  Like it's predecessor, the aptly named Audio Dropouts Vol. 1, this is a collection of some cover tunes that we enjoy - and we hope you will enjoy it too!

The track listing is:

1. WZEN (good morning)
2. Sunshine Superman - originally performed by Donovan
3. Cars - originally performed by Gary Numan
4. Come on Eileen - originally performed by Dexys Midnight Runners
5. New Shoes - originally performed by Paulo Nutini
6. Nebraska - originally…

The band got together this weekend at our favorite recording spot, the highly exclusive MPQ Studio tucked away in Largo, Florida. As usual, we were accompanied 80% of the Daughters of Zen (DOZ), who join us in the studio and generally keep us from being too crazy.

Rich had this idea that each of us would come into the weekend with a song idea, and that by the end of the weekend we'd have 3 complete tunes recorded.  Other than some possible overdubs, and the process of editing and mixing, we succeeded!

Steve's…

We had a great time performing in DeLand at their 24th Annual DeLand Original Music Festival!

The band convened on November 15 at Casa Marcil, had dinner at Santiago's (a favorite of ours in the Orlando area) and had a productive rehearsal with our friend and live drummer Dave (meaning he performs with us live, not that he is alive, although he is in fact also alive).  We also think we stumbled around a construction site, although that remains uncertain.

Our stage this year was at the Abbey Wine Bar…
