Written by Steve, this song "started as a question regarding traditional belief systems and the thought that salvation doesn't necessarily require an adherence to any arbitrary rules.  Originally, Twilight was a character in the narrative, but once Peter started singing the phrase as In the Twilight (which sounds better melodically), the meaning of the lyric changed somewhat."  In terms of the music, Steve says "I wanted to write something to feature Rich's e-bow playing, so the intro of the song is all e-bow, and the outro contains a cool section of several e-bow parts playing at once."
