In the Twilight (Crack O' Dawn Remix)

In the Twilight was one of the songs Steve composed for our debut album. While the original mix is certainly enjoyable, we always felt that it didn't live up to the song's full potential. That's why Steve decided to remix the song in acknowledgment of the 10th anniversary of the Zero Down Time album. Of course, he went overboard and we got a full 11-track cd out of it, but this song is the genesis of the remix idea.

This new mix is more punchy and tight. The main difference is the deletion of two strummy acoustic guitar parts by Steve and Rich, which on their own were simply lovely, but in context tended to muddy things up a little bit. That with the decrease of some reverb all over the song, and some judicious EQ, makes the song pop a lot more. Pete calls it a "solid pop tune slapper." A few extra bars of music were added here and there - see if you can find them!

While the lyric "the more you learn, the less you feel" may or may not be true, sharp-eared listeners should be on the lookout for that line to reappear on our upcoming cd Try It Now! as part of the exploration of the passage of time.  One question though -- who is Dawn?
