Goo Goo Muck, from Audio Dropouts Vol 1.

Goo Goo Muck appears on our album, “Audio Dropouts Vol 1.”  It was a late add to the recording sessions, but is a quirky favorite on the album.  The guys' thoughts on it are below:

Pete: “Ronnie Cook and the Gaylads (1962) did the original of this one and then The Cramps (1981) reprised it. Their version is what you hear on the show, Wednesday. It has that garage band feel that just lent itself to messing with, and of course we had a blast adding all sorts of weird little background noises and effects. The Low Rider deal at the end just seemed to naturally surface from the void. The guitar work from Steve and Rich really makes this one our own, in a completely different way than the original or any of the oddly numerous covers of this tune.”

Steve: "This was the last song we recorded for volume 1 (we actually recorded another cover right after this one, but that was destined for volume 2) . I had never heard this song until seeing the now-iconic dance scene by Jenna Ortega on the “Wednesday” Netflix series. I think I originally mentioned recording it to Rich (although he might think it was his idea, but it doesn't really matter, does it?) and then once Rich was on board we got Pete in the loop. The little weird stop-time section in the middle had a weird development cycle. Originally it was meant to be short little instrumental solo breaks for each guy, but it became something much more bizarre. There are a lot of ZFB inside jokes packed into those few moments.  To this day, I'm not sure anyone (not even the band) noticed that I changed Pete's “Uno, Dos, Tres” shout to be “Uno, Dos, Uno” only because I thought it was stupidly funny to have that follow the sound of a toilet flushing. Immature potty humor is right up my alley, and it was fun to drag the mic into the bathroom. There's a weird little gurgle of a sound, which is heard at the very beginning of the track. I don't know what the sound is, or where it came from, but I think it might actually be a real life goo goo muck lurking in the song. We got the Daughters of Zen to reprise their barnyard animal noises first heard on our song “We Are Animals,” although we've never quite figured out what animal says “FLAAAHHH.” I enjoy the fact that I threw in the riff from “Tequila” at the end, which prompted Pete and Rich to follow up with the riff from “Low Rider.”

Rich: “As the conniving capitalists that we are, I thought it would be advantageous for us to put out our own version of Goo Goo Muck while it was going viral due to the ”Wednesday" tv series. I figured people would find ours - and when they do, they'll either love it or think it's a big 'ol pile of goo goo muck. Pete nails the vocals and Steve does a mad scientist job of putting together the strange-but-it works bridge section. Top golf, indeed."
